Membership in the Woodshop is open to all residents of Sun City.  To become a member, residents must attend an Orientation & Safety Training class (fee of $20). This class is conducted in the shop monthly.  See the HOME page for date and time of the next orientation. A sign-up sheet is located at the monitor's station in the shop.  Please note that each class is limited to 10 people on a first-come basis and that full payment for the class fee and annual membership dues is expected when you sign up for a class.  Please note that the class fee and dues are non-refundable.   So stop by as soon as possible to get your name on the list for the next class.

The orientation consists of viewing safety-oriented videos on the machinery, followed by viewing the machinery itself and seeing a hands-on demonstration by our instructors. On many machines, the attendees actually setup and/or operate the machines.

Follow up training is available for those members who desire additional assistance in learning proper woodworking techniques.  Our members are very good about helping and teaching those who desire these services.

A monitor is on duty in the shop anytime the shop is open. The monitors are there primarily to assure that safe practices are followed and will offer help to those who need it.  Monitors also give tours of the shop to visitors.

Member meetings are held monthly on the third Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the Woodshop. In addition to a business discussion, instruction and demonstrations are given to help our members.

A semi-monthly newsletter is emailed to all members. Click here to see the latest newsletter.

Annual dues are $40 for the first member and $20 for spouse.  Dues are renewed each year at the first of the year.  Envelopes are available at the monitor's desk for dues payment.
